The hirer must be in possession & provide a valid motorcycle/scooter license & SA ID (or foreign license and passport in the case of foreigners), acceptable by South African authorities, for the duration of the rental term/period. International Licenses are required in the case of foreign licenses that are not in English.

All vehicles are highway approved.

The scooter must be parked off-street overnight with the steering locked to be covered by Scoot Dr’s comprehensive insurance.

The hirer is covered by Scoot Dr’s public indemnity insurance for any harm you should cause, accrue or be caused to a 3rd (third) party. The hirer is covered by Scoot Dr’s full comprehensive insurance for any theft or damage to our scooters as well as the 3rd Party, but is not covered for any personal injury. Note the first amount payable/additionals applicable, under this agreement:
• R3, 500.00 is the MAXIMUM first amount payable (excess)/additional should any damage to the scooter be incurred.
• R5, 000.00 is the first amount payable (excess)/additional should the scooter be stolen or written off (accident).

An incident of accident or theft is required, by law, to be reported by the driver of the vehicle to the SA Police Services (SAPS) within 24 hours. The hirer will be liable for the value of the complete loss should (i) the correct police case number not be supplied to Scoot Dr within 72 hours or (ii) claim rejected by the insurance for whatever reason, i.e. DUI, inapplicable license etc.
A copy of the Title Deeds (RC1) is needed when reporting the incident, to be supplied by Scoot Dr before proceeding to SAPS.

The rental of each scooter is subject to a R4, 000.00 deposit, by credit card ONLY, which is fully refundable on the return of the scooter and helmet(s) in the same condition (fair wear and tear excluded) as received by the hirer.
A Credit Card must be present on collection of the scooter, alternatively a local bank account provided for the deposit refund. The bank account deposit refund will only be returned a month after the return of the scooter to protect Scoot Dr against fines/transgressions received, if applicable.

All daily rental charges exclude petrol. Scooters are provided full and the hirer shall return the scooter full of fuel. If the scooter is not filled on return, the hirer shall be charged R150.00 for Category A & B and R300.00 for category C & D scooters which have larger fuel tanks.

The period of rental of this scooter shall be agreed upon on signature of this agreement and any late delivery will result in a charge of R100.00 per hour. 50% of the rental is payable in advance to reserve a scooter while payment in full is required if making a reservation within a week of the collection date.
10% of the rental fee is charged in the case of cancelling the booking.

There is a R600 lost/misplaced key charge for category A,B & C vehicles, R1,500 for chipped Vespa category D's and R3,500 for keyless category D units. A charge of R750 excluding collection/delivery charges applies for lost/misplaced/stolen helmets.

Scoot Dr is closed on weekends and public holidays, should the vehicle need to be returned over this time a R125/day charge applies for every 24-hour (or portion thereof) period that Scoot Dr’s 7-day-per-week, 24-hour after-hours facility is utilized.

The hirer shall be held liable for all traffic fines that result from any transgression during the entire rental period mentioned and indemnify Scoot Dr from any liability resulting there from.
Scoot Dr therefore retains the right to debit the hirers credit card for any fines for traffic offences received on behalf of the hirer, for this reason credit card details of ALL rentals customers must be retained for a minimum of 1 (one) month after the return of the scooter. A R250 administration fee will be charged on all fines Scoot Dr settle on your behalf.

Both the hirer and passenger (where applicable) MUST wear a helmet at all times, which must be fastened firmly, and agree to not operate the scooter under the influence of alchohol or any illegal or intoxicating substances of any nature.
Whilst operating the scooter the hirer agrees to not behave in any manner that would bring the name of Scoot Dr into disrepute.

The hirer shall use the scooter entirely at his/her own risk and agrees that Scoot Dr, its employees, agents or associates shall not be responsible, liable or accountable and shall be rendered blameless for any loss, injury or death sustained as a result of the rental and use of the scooter during the rental period or any extension thereof.

Scoot Dr. shall not be responsible and shall be rendered blameless for any loss or damage to goods of any nature left or transported on the scooter. The scooter may not be used commercially nor for financial gain and shall be used purely for personal transportation.
The scooter may not be used for racing nor the conveyance of goods nor animals nor more than 2 persons inclusive of the driver.

The scooter shall not be used off-road and must be driven on asphalt/tar.

It is advised that the scooter not be driven further than a 60km radius from Scoot Dr premises; i.e. further north than Melkbosstrand or further east than Paarl or further South of Strand/Cape Point. In the event of the scooter breaking down (or puncture, etc.), the hirer agrees to remain with the scooter, until Scoot Dr can arrange collection of the scooter. The hirer MUST always first contact Scoot Dr in the case of breakdown, lost keys, fuel starvation, accident or be stranded in any other way. The costs for collection outside of the advised radium is for the hirer account.

Contact numbers provided on each scooter key tag contain (in order of preferred use):
(i) Scoot Dr’s (i) office number,
(ii) Scoot Dr's after-hours/WhatsApp (Pete) and
(iii) CABS - Collect A Bike Service - our 3rd party upliftment partner. CABS carries an upliftment cost to the hirer, so to be used in emergency of immediacy or ease of WhatsApp instead of
(iv) Scoot Dr’s MiWay INSURANCE Roadside Assist Call Centre is 0860 076 764, quoting our Policy number 114903906 or Client number in 192743036.

Additional per km fees apply @ R2.50 for every extra km of more than 100km on a single day rental, R2.50 for every extra km over 150km on a two day rental and R2.50 for every extra km of more than 75km per day on rentals of more than two days.

The renter/hirer confirms and warrants that all the information as requested by Scoot Dr, pertaining to the renting of the scooter, is true and correct and has a thorough knowledge of the applications of the scooter.
